How do I access support?
If you would like support with your mental health, please speak to your GP who can book you in directly for an initial telephone assessment with IAPT where you can discuss what sort of support may be most helpful for you.
If you would like more information on the different services IAPT offers you can visit their website: Kirklees IAPT | Helping you to improve your wellbeing
Please be aware that IAPT service is not a crisis service. If you require more immediate support because you are experiencing difficult thoughts about either harming yourself or ending your life, then please contact any of the following services.
- Kirklees/Calderdale 24-hour SPA team 01924 316 830
- NHS 111 service (Freephone available 24 hours)
- Samaritans support line 116 123 (Freephone available 24 hours)
What can I expect from the assessment?
You will be offered an initial telephone assessment lasting up to 45 minutes with one of their friendly Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners which is entirely confidential. They will go through a few questionnaires with you and ask you some questions about how you are feeling, and this will help determine whether the IAPT service is the best service to meet your needs. It is important that you are in a suitable place to take the call and can speak openly and freely in a quiet environment.
